WhatsApp Releases New Features in the New Year
WhatsApp, which is one of Meta's favorite chat platforms, is reportedly releasing a new feature. The new feature was released in early 2023, where according to rumors circulating the feature allows users to still be able to send messages to each other without having to be connected to the internet. Then what is that feature? How to activate the feature? And is the feature safe to use?
The new feature launched in early 2023 is WhatsApp Proxy, where users can still send messages to each other without being connected to the internet. This feature is claimed by WhatsApp will not reduce the level of security at all by maintaining the end-to-end encryption that has been implemented.
The new feature is a new year's gift for some areas experiencing internet shutdowns. This has been conveyed by WhatsApp itself through its website.
"Our hope for 2023 is that there will be no more internet shutdowns. Disruptions like we've seen in Iran for months have denied human rights and resulted in obstacles to aid delivery. While these network shutdowns continue, we hope this solution will help people communicate securely and reliably whenever they need to." Said whatsapp on their blog.
The way to activate the feature is as follows
Android :
- Make sure your WhatsApp version is up to date.
- On the Chat tab, tap More options > Settings.
- Tap Storage and data > Proxy.
- Tap Use proxy.
- Tap Set proxy and enter the proxy address.
- Tap Save.
- A check mark will appear if the connection is successful.
- If you are still unable to send or receive WhatsApp messages using a proxy, the proxy may have been blocked. You can long-press the blocked proxy address to remove it, and then enter a new proxy address to try again.
IOS :
- Make sure your WhatsApp version is up to date.
- Go to WhatsApp Settings.
- Tap Storage and data > Proxy.
