Surabaya City Government Site Received Nearly 1 Million Attacks in 3 Months?
The Surabaya city government website was attacked 957,254 times in the last 3 months, this case is still quite hot considering there have been many cases of digital attacks on government sites in Indonesia. The attack is thought to have occurred because of the weak security of government sites, the most recent is the attack on the Surabaya city government site, so what steps were taken by the Surabaya Kominfo and what sites were attacked?
Diskominfo Surabaya collaborated with BSSN to hold a technical guidance on Information Security Management Governance within the Surabaya City Government, on Tuesday (11/10/2022). The event was held in the Mojopahit Room on the 3rd floor of the Bappedalitbang Building, the technical guidance was attended by all Regional Apparatus and sub-district heads of Surabaya City.
The technical guidance was opened directly by the Mayor of Surabaya Eri Cahyadi, the event invited 2 presenters, namely the Sub-Coordinator of Cyber Security Governance at the Directorate of Cyber Security and Government Passwords of BSSN Aris Munandar, and also Information Security Expert Vico Delta Frihannedy. The presenters provided enlightenment on how to secure information systems in their respective environments, because the information system is related to public services.
On the same occasion, Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi said that the technical guidance was considered very important because the Surabaya City Government had implemented electronic-based services and used electronics.
"Well, this electronic system needs security, and this security is actually not only from the infrastructure, such as servers and so on. However, this security is also influenced by Human Resources (HR), habits or habits. Information system security can be destroyed if we are negligent," said Mayor Eri.
Eri Cahyadi also hopes that by holding this technical guidance, all Surabaya City Government Regional Apparatus that have electronic-based services can secure their respective data, and can make electronic services at the Surabaya City Government safer.
"Hopefully with this technical guidance, all data in the city government can be safer. Hopefully this can provide the best for all of us and can improve security in the city government," said Eri Cahyadi.
According to the Head of Diskominfo of Surabaya City, M. Fikser, the reason for holding this technical guidance is because of the rampant cases of data and information leakage in Indonesia, and this also occurs in the government environment which is usually used for public services. He also assessed that the potential for data leakage is very high and may occur within the Surabaya City Government.
"It can be seen from the number of attacks on Surabaya City Government information security. Based on Cyber Attack Prevention data, in the last 90 days or about 3 months, there were 957,254 attacks that were successfully countered," said Fikser.
"The attacked sites are public service applications to help facilitate the community in obtaining services. If these sites continue to be attacked, it will certainly disrupt public services to the community. So, we ask and ask for help from all parties, please do not attack these sites, because this is for the public interest, pity the citizens later if these sites are down, services to them will definitely be disrupted," hoped Fikser.
By organizing the technical guidance, Fikser hopes that the Surabaya City Government can improve and strengthen its information security, according to Fikser, information security is a very important aspect in efforts to improve the quality of service to the public. The event is also expected to increase the understanding and awareness of Surabaya City Regional Apparatus regarding the importance of Information Security Management Governance, so that Regional Apparatus can implement Information Security Governance that is effective, efficient and can improve the quality of public services within the Surabaya City Government.
"Hence, the purpose of this technical guidance is so that all PDs within the Surabaya City Government can understand and be able to implement Information Security Governance, be able to implement the Information Security Management System (SMKI), and be able to implement the SPBE (Electronic Based Government System) Security scheme," concluded Fikser.
