Indonesia Will Be Featured In The Metaverse?
The passage of time also means that there are more enthusiasts for the metaverse. Indeed, we cannot deny that the metaverse is a very interesting big project. Reportedly Indonesia will also jump into the metaverse world, and does that mean there will be an Indonesian Ecosystem in the metaverse?
A number of banks from Indonesia are rumored to be ready to expand into the metaverse. Two banks that are already large want to expand into the metaverse, considering that the metaverse has started to attract many enthusiasts. They are PT Bank Negara Indonesia Tbk (BNI) and PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia Tbk (BRI), the two banks announced that they will plunge into a virtual world that will be developed by WIR Group, and the virtual world is named Metaverse Indonesia.
WIR Group is a company engaged in augmented reality technology in Indonesia which has been established since 2009. The government through the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology has involved this company to present Metaverse Indonesia. According to Daniel Surya as Executive Chairman and Co-Founder of WIR Group, Metaverse Indonesia will be designed with Artificial Intelligence (AI), Virtual Reality (VR), and Augmented Reality (AR) technology platforms. The platform will present virtual reality of major cities in Indonesia. According to him, the first phase of Metaverse Indonesia development is targeted to launch by the end of 2022. Previously, the government also had plans to introduce the metaverse platform at the 2022 Indonesia G20 Presidency.
The development of the Metaverse Indonesia ecosystem will be built in stages and it is estimated that the entire ecosystem will be completed within five to six years. Metaverse Indonesia is planned to use the rupiah currency in its transactions. In its development, WIR Group has collaborated with several parties, such as BRI and BNI banks, besides that WIR Group also cooperates with the Trisakti Multimedia School Educational Institution. WIR Group collaborating with Trisakti Multimedia School is the first step in involving the world of education in the development of the Indonesian metaverse. WIR Group also said that there are still several more companies that will join the Metaverse Indonesia development project in the future.
